ICA is pleased to present Christian Flamm's limited edition silkscreen print, entitled N°12.

This edition is based on the design of the 12th object in his series Actual Books. For this series, the artist created hand-drawn dust jackets wrapped around empty books. In this instance, the edition relates to a repeating motif of coloured geometric shapes that has been used in graphics for many centuries. Flamm draws attention to such design elements which might sometimes be overlooked, often hinting at a personal narrative related to his own situation and experiences.

N°12 includes an embossed element in place of the signature - a ‘CF’ logo based on the artist’s initials - derived from the pretzel shape common to his home region of Swabia in Germany.

Born in 1974 in Stuttgart, Germany, Christian Flamm now lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include: Continuation Souabe Zwabische Voortduring, dependance, Brussels (2015); 100 anni Galleria Fonti, Galleria Fonti, Naples (2014); 10 more actual Books, Room&Book, ICA London (2014), A Selection of Actual Books, Claire De Rouen Books, London (2013); (with Margarete Jakschik), Galerie Karin Guenther, Hamburg (2012); and An Alphabet, Art Basel Miami Beach – Art Positions, Miami (2012).
